About Kieran's work
Since its inception, Photography’s objectivity has been ruthlessly interrogated. The Photograph’s uncanny ability to ‘freeze’ a moment in time has revolutionised the way we communicate. However, after hundreds of years of development for the medium, we stand at a point where too many images exist. Through exposure to the internet, our consumption of new media has extended beyond anything we were originally capable of. We now view scenes of war & destruction with a detached glare as we spiral into a world that leaves us despondent and unphased by images of pain & horror.
The images created for this exhibition aim to undermine and question this detached view & to challenge the idea of the image as a commodity & spectacle.
